Spine Center

The Queen’s Medical Center’s Orthopedic and Spine Center is Hawaii’s first program to achieve The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Advanced Certification for Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement. We provide coordinated and comprehensive care before, during and after a total hip or total knee replacement.

Queen's Orthopedic Department is the acute care component of the continuum of care, which also includes intensive care, subacute care and home care. Orthopedics is located on the eighth floor of the Queen Emma Tower and consists of two 24-bed units dedicated to high quality, holistic orthopedic care. Tower 8 Ewa specializes in spine related disorders, surgeries and traumatic injuries while Tower 8 Diamond Head specializes in total joint replacement. Queen's also offers classes to prepare patients for total hip/knee replacement surgery and spine surgeries.

Queen's Orthopedic staff includes highly competent registered nurses and certified nurse's aides, many of whom are certified in orthopedic nursing. Care is patient and family-centered and culturally sensitive. Queen's believes in a collaboration between the entire health care team, which includes the patient and family, and care is delivered with an emphasis on education.
